Most vibrating feeders perform for longer time even if you don’t pay much attention or maintain them regularly.
Still vibrating feeder manufacturers believe that there are reasons behind declining feed rate of the device. In this story, they will publish major issues and causes in detail.

In general, there are four malfunctions in vibratory feeder-
- Declining feed rate
- Dead spot in the bowl
- Intermittent operation
- Machine noise
We will discuss the declining feed rate issue in this article.
There are several reasons behind the feed rate declining.

There are several reasons behind the feed rate declining.
- A cracked spring- Even a cracked spring can be a reason behind a dead spot. This can slow down the feeder. The crack often occurs adjacent to holes in the spring and at times it is so small that you can only see it using a magnifying glass. Before taking a round of inspection, you should polish or wire brush the ends of the springs. You can quickly test the spring by throwing it over concrete floor with force and if it is cracked, it will break into two pieces.
- Change in durometer- Feeder performance can be affected by hardness of the rubber feet. Rubber feet can harden with time or soften or bulge due to weather conditions or even when exposed to petroleum based products and corrosives.
- Loose feet- It can trouble the vibrating feeder machine. You must tighten them in order to get seamless performance.
- Coil Gap- Excessive gap between the armature and coil can result in low amplitude.
- Rust or corrosion- Rusting between the spacers and springs tells about the corrosion that happens between the spaces. Rusting may result in low amplitude. If you find corrosion, you must disassemble, clean, and retune the drive unit.
- The absence of cover- It can also result in low amplitude. Vibrating feeder manufacturers intend their devices with the shell. Removing shell from larger models can result in severe loss of amplitude.
